
GFWC BAYSHORE WOMAN’S CLUB
“The Wave of the Future”
Founded in 1993, GFWC Bayshore Woman’s Club is a member of the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs of GFWC (NJSFWC), which was founded in 1894 and is the largest nondenominational, nonpartisan, volunteer service organizations for women in New Jersey, and also the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC), founded in 1890 and one of the largest international, nondenominational, nonpartisan, volunteer service organizations in the world. Our club's members may include women of all ages and are businesswomen, homemakers, teachers, nurses, students, and retirees.
The goals of GFWC Bayshore Woman’s Club are represented by its projects, and have included:
The club also provides monetary donations to Washington Volunteer Fire Co. (Matawan), Matawan First Aid & Rescue Squad, Community YMCA - Strong Kids Campaign, and Matawan Aberdeen Public Library (for children's books), among others.
Far-reaching projects include participation in the NJSFWC Special State Project. During the 2006-2008 administration, GFWC Bayshore Woman’s Club worked with other clubs throughout the state to donate more than $600,000 in cash and in-kind services to aid domestic violence survivors. The emphasis area for the 2008-2010 term is to support Autism NJ through advocacy initiatives and fundraising efforts to provide informational material to families and pediatricians.
This IRS-registered 501(c)3, non-profit volunteer organization welcomes new members. Current club members reside throughout Monmouth and southern Middlesex counties. Regular monthly meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month October through May (November and December meetings are held on the third Thursday) at the Woman’s Club of Matawan, 199 Jackson Street, Matawan. Guests are welcome to join members for refreshments at 7:00pm; meetings begin at 7:15PM and include work on a “done-in-one” project or an informational program. Members are encouraged to share ideas, contacts, and leadership; club dues are currently $35 per year, and there are no mandatory requirements of volunteer hours.
