                                                                                              2011 Club  Activities
Galloway Township Women's Club sponsored a coat drive for the Food Bank, and benefiting Kathleen's Closet, the thrift store at Shore Mall, and affiliated with the Food Bank. For almost two months, from November through December 2011, we collected coats, donated by Galloway community residents, and delivered them to Kathleen's Closet. This was a very successful coat drive, and we thank the generous donations made by Galloway residents.

Participated in "Taste of Galloway" a night time event, held in December to provide activities for families, and children at Village Green in Smithville on the evening Santa arrived. The Galloway Women's Club offered children an opportunity to color Holiday cards for the Veterans in Vineland VA hospital. It was an enjoyable activity, and everyone was enthused to support the Vets.

Overview Club History

For the past 35 years the Galloway Women’s Club has been providing service to the community. As part of the NJ State Federation of Woman’s Clubs, we are a nonprofit community service organization, which has sought to fill needs we recognize in the community.

The projects have evolved over the many decades, depending on the size and interest of the membership. Each time you walk past the benches at the entrance of the Galloway Library, or enjoy John Gowdy’s white marble statue depicting “hands and book” inside the library, or rest along Patriot Lake on the bench donated by the Galloway Woman’s Club you are enjoying one of the small, but lasting, effects of our organization.

Recent Club History

In 1995 The Galloway Women’s Club supported the opening of the brand new branch of the Atlantic County Library System, by organizing  “Food For Thought” a fundraiser to benefit the library. The proceeds of the first “Food For Thought” were donated for new books in the library, and to fund Summer Programs for residents of all ages.

For the next 16 years “Food For Thought” became a very successful event, moving from the library to  the Noyes Museum of Art, and then to the Rams Head Inn. We remain grateful to Dan Anderson and the Rams Head Inn and all the many restaurants, musicians, and Artists, who attended for many years.

Thousands of dollars were raised and donated to various organizations,

including the

Galloway Branch of the Atlantic County Library,

Atlantic County Women’s Center,

 Atlantic County Food Bank,

Scholarships for Middle and High School graduates,

 CASA,

Local fire departments,

FACES an autism support group in Atlantic County,

 Girls Career Institute,

Absegami Chess Team,

 Project Graduation,

and recently, Boatsie’s Boxes, a  Christmas Stocking Project  for the Troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Summer Programs, were enjoyed by hundreds of adults and children

during the 15 years we sponsored these programs.

Each summer a variety of classes including yoga, art classes for children or adults,

Red Cross baby sitting classes, basket making,

and Summer Chess were attended by residents of all ages.

Only the Summer Chess Program, continues to be sponsored by the Galloway Woman’s Club.

We have been, and continue to be, a productive

and positive presence in our community and beyond.
