Evening Membership Department

The Evening Membership Department was founded during the 1930’s to accommodate women who wanted to be a part of a Woman’s Club but were not able to attend a daytime meeting. The Evening Membership Department of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs of GFWC is currently comprised of 16 departments throughout the state of New Jersey with a membership of approximately 450. New Jersey is the only state in the General Federation of Women’s Clubs that has Evening Membership Departments.

Through the years, the departments have supported many EMD State Projects, which have included The Children’s Seashore House, The Eye Institute of New Jersey, Deborah Heart and Lung Center, the purchase of an Emergency Pediatric Ambulance, as well as cooperation with their Woman’s Club for all NJSFWC State Projects. During 2008-2010 administration, the EMD will be supporting the NJSFWC Special State Project – Autism New Jersey.

The EMD is a viable group of women working together to support their various charitable endeavors, supporting the NJSFWC and fostering the sisterhood that is a major component of the EMD.
